Mark Levine’s 2023 Update

Well I’m still deeply involved in the pubtech space. As many of you know, for almost 20 years I’ve been in this space as a founder, co-founder, CEO, and board member. At the same time, I’ve been pretty busy with my domain name investment and consulting business.

Right now, I’m on the board of directors at DropCap, a company I co-founded in 2018. I even served as the CEO there until 2023. DropCap’s software platform is all about helping book publishing companies in the US, Canada, and the UK make money and efficiently handle the translation rights for their titles.

Recently, I started HaikuSnack, a site that publishes haikus about pop culture, politics, food and entertainment. I haven’t been doing it as much as I want because I recently acquired an online publishing magazine that I’m relaunching soon.

From 2006 to 2016, I was the founder and CEO of Hillcrest Media Group, a book publishing tech company. It all started with a random idea I had while rollerblading in 2006, and it grew into a thriving business with over 11,000 titles published and a team of 30 employees at the time of it’s sale in 2016 to Salem Media Group (NASDAQ: SALM).

In 2010, I launched Domain Theory, essentially as hub for my domain name assets. Right now, the company owns about 7,000 domains, along with a bunch of websites related to content and publishing.

Way back from 1999 to 2009, I was the founder and CEO of Click Industries, a company that offered online business filing services to entrepreneurs. We had quite a journey, and in 2009, we were acquired by LRCI.
